About the Site

First and foremost, you need a computer to view this site at all, preferably one that's plugged in and turned on. If you can do it any other way, contact me; I know someone who'll be able to get word at the National Enquirer about it.

The site is best viewed at an 800 x 600 screen resolution or more, on a 4th generation or later browser (MSIE or Netscape). It uses javascript and DHTML, so please enable all the fancy doodads under Preferences or Internet Options. If you notice any bugs (and I mean other than the fireflies), please let me know so I can fix it.

The "a p r i l" site began in late September of 1999 as a means to keep me writing, creating, and designing. Except where noted, the entire site was written, designed, and coded solely by me, using the following tools:

Pages Created with CuteHTML Graphics Created with Paint Shop Pro 5 Pages Uploaded with CuteFTP

Please respect all copyright laws, as I'm very possessive of my work and have connections to some lawyers with whom you may not want to tangle. If you like my work and want it for your own, then you'll have to hire me.

The site resides used to reside on a 2 meg max of web space on AOL, which forces forced me to keep it lean, graphic-wise. Yes, I can upgrade to 4 megs if I join the Hometown Community, but I refuse to intentionally allow commercial ads to harrass my visitors. And yes, I can upgrade to 14 (or even 28) megs if I use the 7 screennames allowed on one AOL account (and then join Hometown), but that's equivalent to revealing my other screennames to the public, and well... there's just something wrong with that scenario. [April's note (2000.09.24): I've moved to Dreamhost since then.]

I hope to get my own domain eventually, but I'm only considering names at the moment.

The last version of the site had what is called an Easter Egg (if you don't believe me, check out the archives' Winter Holiday's guestbook). Naturally, to keep up to date with it, I've put in several more eggs on this version.

If you'd like to find these eggs, here are a few hints:
  • Be curious; look through all of the site.
  • Be aware; if you notice anything out of the ordinary, investigate it.
  • Be active; participate, and sign the guestbook.
Those who find the eggs will be listed on a special page, if they bother to take credit for their finds.

If you like the site and want to share it with friends, by all means, please do so. You can link to me by using the following logo and/or code:
