You leave now and hope the hag never finds you. You duck under trees and behind sloping hills on your way back to the castle, ever vigilant, always looking over your shoulder to make sure that the witch isn't following you.

You will miss Rapunzel, you realize. You would look for her, but you don't know where to start, and considering what the witch told you, you imagine that she's probably already dead. You wouldn't be surprised if the witch did away with her. Her body is probably stashed away in the tower somewhere--Rapunzel and her unborn baby.

With a pang, you realize that the unborn baby is yours and that you will never get to see it. Ah, well. You guess that you've failed in your quest. You couldn't save Rapunzel, after all.
