X-Men
Seen: July 14, 2000 - Matinee
Very Brief Synopsis: In the not so distant future, mutants are the next minority, and while they face prejudice from the "normal" people, Charles Xavier organizes the "good" mutants to prevent the "bad" mutants from waging war against all mankind.
Comments: I don't typically see myself as a comic book reader, but I knew of the X-Men before I saw the trailer for this; I've watched a couple of the cartoons and liked the premise. I wanted to see X-Men; my boyfriend didn't (he never even heard of them before and thought the trailer was bad). I thought the movie would be good; he didn't. I left the theater feeling triumphant; the movie was good, and my boyfriend liked it, to his surprise. It's well done, and it leaves the franchise open for a sequel. The computer special effects aren't too obvious and are very well done -- same guys who did Titanic. Comic book fan or not, you should go.
