How To Read the Missing Yahoo! Posts

You go to one of your favorite Yahoo! clubs and find that there are new messages to read in the forum. Yet, for some odd reason, you can't read any of them. You know they're there, but according to the archives, they don't exist. What's going on? It's just a Yahoo! bug.

Here's how you get around it:

When you go to the club's Home page, you'll see links to the five most recent messages. If you move your mouse over a link to the topmost one, you'll find out how many messages there are actually supposed to be by looking at the status bar at the bottom of the browser window and noting the number at the end of the URL displayed. In the example below, the most recent post is 18401, by kydonbob.

When the bug is active, you get routed to the "View All" list of posts every time you click on a link to a recent message, and according to this list, the message you were trying to read doesn't even exist. In this example, the most recent post listed is 18355, even though there are supposed to be 18401 messages.

To read 18356 through 18401, right-click (or click and hold if you're on the Mac) on the link to the most recent message that you can read and choose "Open in New Window" in the drop-down menu.

You should be able to read the post without the Yahoo! club frames, which will enable you to read the post's actual URL in the address bar above. Note that the word "messages" is at the beginning of the URL and that the number of the post is at the end. Also note that there's a link on the post itself to the previous message, but none to the next.

To read the next post (or any post after that), you'll need to change the word "messages" to "post" in the URL and then substitute the number at the end with the number of the post you want to read.

For this example, I typed in 18401 in place of 18355, and I was finally able to read kydonbob's post.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I need to clarify any points. Thanks!
