Gosford Park

Seen: January 13, 2002 - Matinee
Very Brief Synopsis: Multiple storylined drama set in 1930, showing the lives of upstairs guests and downstairs servants at a party in a country house in England. (imdb.com)
Comments: We went because it's an Altman movie, and my date loves Altman. I never really knew who Altman was, but after this movie, I'm definitely a fan. What I loved most about this movie is the detail involved in the customs, the costumes, the setting, and the basic goings on in the house. Most books and movies set in the same environment focus so much on the well-to-do characters and hardly ever on the servants that work in the background. Very subtle. Very real. I'd watch it again just to catch all the characters' gossipy talk that I missed.
