Still Here!
I’m alive. Just barely. I’ve been working and reading, and I haven’t really had the time to post much of anything. Mostly I’ve been making myself physically and emotionally available to H.E., who has had a much rougher year than I have had so far.
I have more magazine illustrations to post, and if you’ve been watching my other site, Graphicfantastic, you know that I’ve been churning the book covers out, too.
In other news, the company where I work (my day job) has been recently bought out and is now under new management. So, technically, I have not broken my record of change as of yet. What record is that? Well, since 1995, I have had either a new job or a new apartment at least once every single year. And this year, this month actually, I was fired from the company that hired me the same day. Thank goodness I got to keep my seniority. And thank goodness I got this year’s change out of the way.
I know I owe many of you e-mail. If I haven’t written back in three months, please write again. I have my inbox timed out now to keep my server and hard drive lean.
What books have I been reading lately? The last five were:
Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle (almost finished)
Sheri S. Tepper’s The Family Tree (I highly recommend this one!)
Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 (the 50th anniversary edition)
Graham Greene’s The Quiet American (I recommend this one, too)
Romance at the Edge: In Other Worlds (an anthology for which I did the cover — I’ve been buying print copies of the books for which I’ve done covers)
I wish Jane Austen were still alive and writing. I’d definitely buy more of her books. I’ve already read them all and am in such a need for another fix that I’m willing to read a Pride and Prejudice sequel written years after her death or even watch the silly Jane Austen’s Mafia again.
In the meantime,
You scored as Elizabeth Bennet. As one of Austen’s most beloved characters, Elizabeth Bennet represents what most women would like to become: strong, independent, and loyal. Of course, she has her faults including a stubborn will of iron and a clinging to first impressions. Overall, Lizzie is bright and lovable…something to admire and aspire to. |

HEYYY! Welcome back, cousin! I’ve missed you (as have many others, I’m sure!)
I got the exact same result on the Jane Austen quiz… Liz Bennett.
I took the quiz and came back as Emma. Unfortunately I haven’t read many (any?) Jane Austin books so I’m unclear on who most of these people are. I’ve seen Sence and Sensibility but that might do it.
Zee, mwah! I missed everyone, too.
Minn, somehow I knew you’d get her, too, LOL.
Drew, Emma’s not bad at all! She’s actually a favorite of mine. Gwyneth Paltrow played her in the movie, which was titled Emma, of course, after the book. 😉
