Latest Work, 2008 Week 5
I nearly always favor the print covers over the e-book covers, and this is no exception. I especially like the print covers below because they’re in a different genre (mystery!) than the one in which I usually work (erotic romance), and if I could get more such work anywhere, I’d have boundless glee. I love the income that romance provides, but the conventions are so limiting. I’d love to get my hands on a decent science fiction or fantasy cover. Even anything mainstream would tickle me pink.
I also like The Comet Cometh, which is the third book in a series, and Conquering Jazz. I add the magazine ads only to round out the number of small images to six.

In Chip and Die, the author sent me six scanned images of paintings by the artist. They were all of computer chips. I chose one, added some blood splatters to it and gave it a fade to white. Then I added photos of actual computer parts.
The original cover has a Poser man supine in front of a huge red computer chip, all against a solid black background.
In Tree Huggers, which is a mystery about arson and environmentalists, none of the suggested cover concepts actually had a tree in it. I put some trees in it anyway. ‘Cause I’m weird like that.

Oh April, you just spoke the words that are on the tip of my own tongue. Whilst I love creating covers the Erotic Romance thang really is limiting, isn’t it. I’d love nothing more than to try my hand at the general fiction market. Who’d have ever thought that I’d get so tired of buffed up bodies *rolls eyes* LOL!
