Color Me Sad

I truly enjoy playing Scrabulous on Facebook. I pride myself on finally having broken a 400 score and so far having won every game. So how should I react when I see this news?

LONDON (Reuters) – The makers of word game Scrabble have asked Facebook to remove its popular online version “Scrabulous,” which they say infringes their copyright…

Oh, my God. I think I’m going to cry. My real world Scrabble game doesn’t score my plays for me, and the wooden tiles never stay in place. In any case H.E. doesn’t play, and I never have any fun playing by myself.

What’s a girl to do?

  1. I love to play scrabble, too. Does it cost $ to play the scrabulous?

RC only plays with me once in a bluemoon, perhaps only to give in so I would stop whinning.

  2. Sounds like you have an affection (or is it an affliction) for words. You know, I haven’t even looked at Facebook yet, though I’ve heard a lot about it.

  3. G,

I did it! Thanks. Now, my problem is how to make my screen larger so I could see my tiles and the whole scrabble board. Maybe we can play sometime. Thanks, honey!

  4. Mark, the word is that it’ll be bigger than Google. Heck if I know how they make money, though. I never even look at ads there. I’m there mostly just for Scrabulous.

Mom, we should! We can even play in a group with Beege if you like.

  5. These old-school lawyers are so silly. There were so many options they could have taken, and they went for the one most likely to NOT be friendly to fans. I’ve just OD-ed on Scrabulous Solitaire. Now I’m waiting for B-lific to relaunch (Bogglific with the “oggl” now rubbed out, heh) so I can try it out.

The Scrabble Deluxe edition has little ridges to keep the tiles in place. And as I think I may have commented on a previous post, you can always play the risque version and, ahem, score in a different kind of way. No arithmetic required! 😉

  6. Yeah, H.E. said they could have made a deal where Scrabulous and Facebook get to keep doing what they’re doing, but their ads could go to Scrabble’s site. It would be GREAT free advertising and major PR goodwill for Scrabble, if they could somehow just get it together with them.

I know about the Scrabble Deluxe edition and love it. We had it in the family when I was growing up, but I didn’t take it with me when I left. Instead, I bought myself the standard edition because I didn’t think H.E. and I would play it much, and I was right!

I’ll see if he’ll go for playing the risque version, though, LOL. He might actually deign to play THAT! 🙂
