Tsunami Fa So La Ti Do
There was an earthquake off the coast of Oregon today, so naturally there was a tsunami warning all along the coast, just in case. Shortly after I moved, I spent some time on the Huntington Beach city web site to find out about all the recycling stuff, and somehow I stumbled onto the tsunami preparedness page, where I found a larger version of this map:
Let me tell you, it was eye-opening.
I used to live in the white area between the two red areas, on high ground a few major blocks from the beach. Very, very safe from tsunamis.
I now live just barely out of reach of the larger red area, still in the white area but not too far from the red area’s fingertips. And this map is for a moderate tsunami. God help me if there should be a huge one.
