Castle Wonky

Castle

Pastels, 19″ x 24″. Second page of the old pad of paper I mentioned before.

I’m not sure I like this one. Again, I started with no clear direction in mind. The exercise is mostly about getting to know how the colors mix together and learning how to stay within the lines. It reminds me of my coloring book days, really. So childish. Deliberately cartoonish. No real sense of scale. I need to start doing real still life stuff, but I don’t have any free tables!

  1. It is cute. I remember when you use to draw a village with lots of tiny houses, and trees. something for your story.

  2. Childish? It’s most certainly NOT childish. A skilled artist always “simplifies.” The simplicity and ease of the strokes show a command over the medium used and fuel the imagination. I am already thinking of a story to go with this.

Merry Christmas, sweetie. I may/may not be able in the next two days, but I will certainly text. Let’s catch up soon. 🙂

  3. Minn, Yay! Let’s! 🙂

Roscoe, Thank you! May you and yours have a great holiday. 🙂

  4. That’s too cute. (I love the pink flags!) Do you sell? I’m looking for artwork to put up in the kids’ bedroom, but I don’t want just random stuff. I want to hang drawings and paintings done by people I know (or, you know, feel like I know). Let me know via e-mail, if that’s okay?
