School Stuff

School Stuff

It’s been over a decade since I last took a college course. I used to be a fiend about it; I’d enroll in classes at the earliest possible minute, take as many classes as I could manage in a quarter while working two jobs, pay my tuition right away when I had the money, and take care of various other things like parking permits, student IDs, and the like. Whatever I needed to do, I got it done.

Boy, ten years, and I’ve gone to pot.

I actually planned on taking a throwaway class this fall, something to get me out of my usual scene and among some people, and somehow I failed to enroll on time. Just one class, and I botched up all my good intentions.

The irony is that they make it so easy these days. You can apply to the school online. You can look up the class schedules on the web site and find out in real time how full the classes are before you actually enroll. You can purchase your parking permit on the net and have it delivered to you, and you never have to stand in line for it any more.

So easy. So convenient. And I managed not to accomplish the simple task of actually signing up for the class I wanted.

Oh, well. I’ve always been a little slow in the initial stages of learning anything new. Once I hit a certain threshold, I can’t be stopped, but I guess after ten years, it’s all new to me again. I just hope I reach the threshold long before the next session.

I’d really like to take that class.

  1. Ah … just a beginning dance class. It’s cheaper and easier than signing up at the gym. 🙂
