Rockin’ Girl Blogger

Rockin’ Girl Blogger

My Cousin Zee awarded me a Rockin’ Girl Blogger award some time ago, so I’m passing on the torch to five rockin’ girl bloggers I’ve never tagged before, all somehow connected to my work. While I might not read everything they post, I do regularly keep my eye on their blogs so I don’t go into my work blind.

Smart Bitches Who Love Trashy Novels – because they’re smart, funny, and well-read. Their blog sometimes sparks a lot of controversy. One of their recent posts garnered 650 very long comments and flames before they turned the comments off for some sanity. I didn’t read the comments; it would have taken me years.

Dear Author – because the Ja(y)nes are like The New York Times and Cliff’s Notes of romance. They interview authors, editors, and dumpy cover artists like me; post book reviews faster than I can read a single back cover blurb; and highlight all the major publishing news, which saves me from actually reading the papers myself.

Karen Scott – because if it isn’t on Smart Bitches or Dear Author first, it’s on her blog. She gets the back door scoop on a few things I never would have even noticed or cared about, about big people I never gave a moment’s thought. If anything worth mentioning happens in my life, I will probably find out about it first on her blog.

Dionne Galace – because she’s like a mix of the above three and is transitioning from reader to author. Plus, we went to the same schools and had the same writing teachers. Plus, she understands Flip food. Plus, she lives in my old home town. Plus, she worships the ground upon which I walk … which of course doesn’t hurt.

Ann Aguirre / Annie Dean – because with books coming out with Ace and Del Rey, two publishers I used to read when I devoured science fiction novels, this author is destined for big things. Plus, like Nora Roberts, her posts and blog comments have a great deal of calm and common sense. I suspect she wears WWND undies.

OK. That’s it. I’d post the Rockin’ Girl Blogger award graphic, but the graphic itself isn’t rockin’ much—it’s all beset by JPEG artifacts that make me shudder with “sensitive artist” uneasiness. This should not be a surprise, since Cousin Zee gave me the award in the first place for my mad skills—I assume in Photoshop.

  1. I love Smart Bitches. They’re sharp and witty. 🙂

And this reminds me: I have to yet write the thinking blogger’s post.

  2. Hey, I forgot to tell you that I tagged you for this, too! Whoops. That’s a good list. For romance-related blogging, those would probably be my top 5, too.

  3. It’s nice to see two blogs I read regularly here and even nicer to get recommendations for ones that I’ve not come across yet. Thanks!

  4. Minn, hop to it! 🙂

Kat, you did?! Coolness! Then I just hit two birds with one stone on this post. 😉

Estara, I would have put in Romancing the Blog as well … but it’s been ages since I’ve read it.

  5. Checked ’em out, I concur. How are things these days? I REALLY need to freshen up brochspot.com, get in touch!

  6. Oh, hey, I was on vacation when you did this; I didn’t see it before now. Thanks for the heads up!

And gosh… *blush* …thank you for the kind words. I hope I’m destined for big things. I don’t wear WWND undies, though.
