Bookworms, I Challenge You!

Bookworms, I Challenge You!

I’m not the sort of person into video games, and what few games I’ve gotten into were so tame, most gamers from toddlers to boomers would fall asleep watching me play. Even the peaceful Myst, comedic Kyrandia, and family friendly King’s Quest games were at times a little too thrilling for me, while the lands of Zork raised my blood pressure and neck hairs a little too much. Once, a co-worker lent me a CIA-type game where I excelled at the first half, the analysis part, and then nearly had a heart attack at the shoot-’em-up field agent part before I gave it up entirely. Probably the most exciting game I ever mastered was Pagan, but even then, cutting people down with my sword made me uneasy. I tried Wolfenstein once, and it literally nauseated meβ€”I got so dizzy and queasy, I had to lie down for the rest of the night.

So, word and puzzle games are more my thing, if I play any games at all, and when I’m sick of working and need a break, I play a little bit of Cubis Gold or Bookworm to calm my thoughts … when I’m not playing Sudoku or Rubik’s Cube, that is.

Anyway, I usually get quite bored with Bookworm and quit long before the game’s over, but this time I stuck it out until the library went up in flames, and I don’t think I did too shabbily. Here’s my score at the end of the game:

My score at Bookworm!

My challenge to anyone with time and boredom? Best my score. Please! I’m dying to know what comes after the rank of Lexographer...

  1. Oops! Did I introduce a bad habit into your life? πŸ™‚

I think if Bookworm had time constraints, then I would be addicted to it, too — as it is, the game takes too long to end, so I don’t play it that often. Cubis Gold was a little more addictive for me. Same with Minesweeper. Must have something to do with beating the clock.

  2. Yes, yes you have. And not one I NEED at the moment. *lol* I do appreciate being able to leave the game, have a nap and then come back to it. And to think I just weaned myself off Word Racer at Yahoo! Games…

  3. I love Bookworm, too. πŸ™‚

Ok, I’ll give it a shot this weekend. I also need to make that thinking blogger post (I haven’t forgotten; I have just been… verbally constipated!)

  4. Kat, I’m sorry in the same way that a person who has a song stuck in their head is sorry when they manage to get the song stuck in other people’s heads, too. πŸ˜‰

Minnie, I hope you’re drinking plenty of fluids! πŸ™‚ You haven’t updated in a loooong while.

  5. OK, I managed to get to Super Dictionarian. I refuse to go back there anymore!!!

BTW, I have Mamma Mia in my head… *evil grin*

  6. Wow! I don’t think I’ve seen Super Dictionarian yet. What level is that on? I think Lexographer was about Level 15, and I know that Level 10 is Archivist. I don’t remember what the other titles are.

  7. I don’t know. My eyes were seriously bloodshoot. I think it was 20+. Mind you, it was a labour of love over a period of time. You’re right. I’d like it a lot more with a time limit. Or maybe more red tiles to make it more exciting.

  8. WOW. 20+?! Now I REALLY know what you meant by leaving the game a while to take a nap. Just playing until Level 15 was a feat of stamina for me; after a while, I was purposely trying to make the red tiles show up by making shorter words, just so I could end the game already. I imagine that playing until Level 20 would have put me into a coma. Should have tried the napping trick myself! πŸ™‚

  9. I have been to super dictionarian quite a few times buy no further. My usual is lexographer 1st class

  10. what comes after super dictionarian? i cna’t seem to beat that score and would like to know whay comes next. my latest score was 1060950

  11. Good question! I haven’t played the game in ages now, so I couldn’t even begin to tell you. I don’t think I’ve ever reached that level. But wow! Congratulations for a very high score. πŸ™‚

  12. I made it to super dictionarian for the first time today. I usually make it to lexographer. It takes a looong time to get to dictionarian. The only reason I play it is because its free, although it would be more exciting if the game was more challenging. I’m going to taking a nap now…
