She Actually Stayed Still!
I don’t have many photos of my cat. She’s black, and she never stays still for the camera, so she’s hard to shoot. If I shoot her with the flash, she looks awful. If I shoot her in natural light, either the background looks great, and she’s a black blob; or she looks great, and the background is all blown out. If the natural lighting is great all around, cat and background, then she’s moving around and causing a motion blur.
Trust me. Try shooting a black cat. It’s a pain in the butt to shoot.
But she actually stayed still one day, and I shot her in natural lighting, no flash. It was a challenge keeping the camera still for the slightly long exposure, but I really wanted to capture the rich coloring and texture of her not-quite-completely black fur. Her hair is a lot like mine—long, thick, dark, and (under the light) with chocolate or reddish tones. And like me, she sheds a lot and doesn’t like posing for pictures.
Yet here she is:
I love my pretty kitty!
Just as a comparison, here’s the first shot I ever took of the cat, possibly the first shot I ever took since taking up photography. I believe I get the award for Most Improved.

Cute cat pictures. Her fur does look pretty reddish in the pics but I’m guessing that is semi-misleading.
Now if we could just get you and your famous hair on the other side of the camera lens for once! On the positive side, it sounds like you still have your long hair, so we can still hold out hope that one of these days you will finally share a picture of it with us! It still reaches down near your knees (unless you’ve had a trim) when loose right?
No change on the hair.
Cool. : )
I thought about your prank column from a couple years ago when Britany had her head shaving experience the other week. She did not help herself in several different areas with that act.
At any rate, I’m sure you’ll surprise us with a photo of the braid at some point!
