Change of Plans
Ah, if you only knew…
I was going to post about leaving town again today, but my plans have changed, and I’m staying home for the weekend after all. Too much to do anyway. So … instead of going to LAX tonight, I’ll probably catch a movie.
I’m sure the cat’s happy about it. She hates being put in the carrier and boarded at the vet. Absolutely hates it. And they’re doing repairs in my neighborhood, which probably requires I be home when they come to my unit. Not to mention the stuff I have due for work.
So it’s all good. The ticket fares will be used another time, I’m sure.
Meantime, I’m here, able to write more in a post than, “I’m leaving town again.” In fact, here’s a little conversation between H.E. and me, snagged from yesterday’s breakfast:
HE: Bees live for only six weeks. Can you believe that?
Me: Well, what have they got to live for, really?
HE: They live for their honey.
Me: Oh. Well, that’s sweet.
I admit that this was slightly edited for clarity—i.e., I left out all the stuff about pollinating and about all the bees being slaves to gay bees, where I corrected H.E. and said that the queen bees weren’t necessarily gay.

I recomend The Departed or Stranger than Fiction. I’ve seen the former and want to see the latter.
Do you ever wear your hair in pigtails? I wonder where that expression comes from? A friend of mine was wearing her hair like that today.
I went to see Stranger than Fiction. I’ve already seen The Departed. Both are really good. H.E. and I have been lucky — we’ve seen a lot of good movies lately, The Prestige, Flushed Away, and Flags of Our Fathers.
I wore pigtails as a child. If your hair is shorter and curly, they stick out like pigs’ tails.
I haven’t seen many movies lately but I was really excited to see The Departed. I thought it lived up to the hype. I didn’t quite follow why the pd was not more keen to pick up on the Matt Damon character as the mole. And it was maybe a little much that they were both involved with the same girl. That said, I liked it a lot. It was no Goodfellas but it was still pretty good.
I’ve heard great things about Stranger than Fiction. I loved the Jim Carey movie that Kauffman wrote….Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. So I have high hopes for it.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving! Are you traveling anywhere or staying at home?
Happy Thanksgiving, April!
Hope you get to update your journal more often 🙂
