Blogging Q&A
I saw these questions circulating among romance-reading bloggers, and since I’m not likely to be tagged these days, I thought I’d just snag and use them for a post. This heat wave makes me lazy, yes.
1. When did you first start blogging and why?
This depends on the definition of blogging. If it means posting regularly online using a dedicated content management system like Blogger, Greymatter, MovableType, or WordPress, then I started blogging in January 2001. If it means posting regularly online using a fairly simple form script (which I’d adapted from a guestbook script) with the most recent posts ending up at the top, then I started blogging in 1999 or 2000. If it means posting regularly online, period, then I started in 1998. Ironically enough, I don’t consider myself much of a blogger. As for the why? Because I’ve always kept a journal or diary since the fifth grade, and journalling online is just easier.
2. What don’t you talk about?
I don’t talk about my friends’ or family’s personal or private stuff. If they consider it a private matter, or if I even think they might consider it a private matter, I don’t talk about it. Back when I had a day job, I also didn’t get into specifics about my work. This, however, only applies if I’m still employed at the company in question. I would gladly dish the dirt on any companies from which I’ve been fired. Fortunately for me, I’ve been fired only twice in my life, and the firing bosses at both companies were complete idiots. So I’ll feel no guilt on that score.
3. Are you and your blogging persona the same person?
Yes. The name and bio are real, and unless otherwise marked (as fiction or as poetry, etc.), the stories are true. When I first had a web site in 1998, it was under another persona, but I hated not being able to take credit for all the things my visitors back then thought was clever and entertaining. So here I am, in all my naked glory. Uh, but without revealing everything.
4. How do you use blogging to build friendships?
Actually, I haven’t lately. My blogging and commenting have been infrequent in the last few years, but back in the day, I built friendships with those whom I read regularly and those who commented on my blog regularly. The friendships were further developed through e-mail, instant messages, and snail-mailed cards and gifts. What this says about me: I’m a sucker for flattery, and I gush like a fan girl.
5. How would you describe your writing style?
Seriously? Depressing, nowadays. But between 2001 and 2003, my writing was often cute, quirky, and reader-interactive. Read the archives. I was much cleverer back then and quite happy, though I didn’t know it at the time. When life is good and stable, when someone adores you, and when you have nothing else going on in your life, it really shows in your writing. The last couple of years have been somewhat tempestuous for me, so my writing has suffered. I’m hoping it’s temporary.
Okay, and now I tag those on my list of links and those who have commented on my blog before. I’m too lazy to name names—you all know who you are.

I remember the good ol’ days, they were the same for me! When I look back over my writing from 02 and 03, it was MUCH better than now, but my LIFE is much better NOW. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I think that we all go through phases, and that our writing waxes and wanes with them.
Hm. I think some people write better when their life isn’t so great, and others write better when their life is good. Wasn’t Ernest Hemingway kind of a miserable author? I think the misery, in his case, helped him a great deal. Me, I need to be struggling a little but feeling happy and safe. Otherwise, my writing is just depressing and pathetic, lol.
Your writing is pretty awesome April, no doubt about it. I am in need of a serious rant right now, and am debating whether or not to do it online…
My question is in reference to the Holy Moley Blog. I have 4 moles on the side of my right eye in the shape of a diamond. They are all fairly tiny and 3 of the 4 are about the same size, the other one is smaller and I wanted to know what that means. I also have a mole straight down in the middle on the lower part of my right leg just above my ankle and I have one on the top my left foot just a couple of inches below my left ankle. I also have a mole on my right hand just below the knuckle of my pinkey finger and I have one just below my collar bone, but between my right shoulder and collar bone on my right side and I wanted to know what all of these mole locations mean. The ones on my face are slightly raised and round and the ones on my knuckle, ankle, collar bone & shoulder and foot are flat and round. Please help, I am interested in knowing what all of these mean. Thanks in advance for your help. I look forward to hearing from you.
