Someone, Please Cover Me
I haven’t posted all that regularly because I’m not a very happy camper these days. Other than the fact that someone I care about hasn’t been feeling all that well, I myself have been feeling rather friendless and a bit sorry for myself. Not something I feel comfortable discussing online, but you get the idea.
Then, today…
I saw a Band-Aid commercial on TV this morning. They apparently have a new product out that has a touch of antibiotic on the cushion part of their bandage. And they had this new tagline with a small TM after it.
We’ve got you covered.TM
Exactly as I have it on my Graphicfantastic site.
H.E. came up with that tagline for me in late 2003 or early 2004. He came up with the domain name as well. I put the TM after it because at his suggestion, I planned on registering that tagline as a trademark. And it’s perfect for me because of all the work I do on book covers and whatever else design work that comes with that—bookmarks, magazine ads, business cards, etc. Whatever the client needs in terms of design and illustration work? Hey, we’ve got you covered.
Now I’m feeling out of sorts because I hadn’t done any paperwork yet to actually register the tagline, and here is Band-Aid, big corporate entity with money out the wazoo, using that same tagline and intending to register it as well.
Not what I needed on top of everything else.
I’ve never felt so cheated.

Oh MAN! That sucks so bad!! I’m sure sorry…big hugs (antibiotic purposely left out).
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been feeling down lately… I check your blog pretty regularly and wondered if something was amiss. Since I don’t know the particulars, I can only wish all the best and hope things work out for you. Take care April 🙂
I’m so sorry, baby. You have gone through much in the last year; it’s time life took a turn upwards for you now.
Please call me. xoxo
Hugs April, I’m sorry that you’ve been feeling down. Friendless is something that you will never be! Broch
I echo the sentiments of others and hope that things get better soon.
Thanks, everyone. When the dust has cleared, I may decide to talk about it here, but for now, it’s nice to have the moral support.
This is late, but I hope you’re doing alright.
