Today, in light of what’s happened in New Orleans, the powers that be in Huntington Beach left an envelope at my doorstep—at everyone’s doorstep—with the words “Official EMERGENCY information from the City of Huntington Beach” written on it.

In the envelope is a letter outlining what we all can do to be prepared in the event of any disaster—the highest risk being earthquake, then flood or storm, fire or explosion, chemical spill, violence, and what have you. There is also a list of local Emergency Alerting System (or Emergency Broadcast System) stations and items to include in Grab ‘n Go Bags, a Car Emergeny Kit, and a Three-Day Survival Pack.

I’m sold. I want to be a Hungtington Beach citizen for life, and I want to slap an HB sticker on my car, just like everyone else here. Heck, I might even stop voting in San Diego and register to vote in HB. We’ll see.
