Decisions, Decisions
For some time now, I’ve been considering closing this web log. I don’t post as regularly as I used to, and 99% of my comments are spam, which is a hassle to delete even as easy as WordPress makes it. I spent this morning deleting such spam, after spending last night and the night before doing the same thing, and in my fervor of also going into some of those old posts and disabling comments and pings, I got a little confused and accidentally deleted a genuine comment on my last post.
That was the last straw.
It doesn’t help that my site was hacked some time ago — the index page replaced with some kind of message, like a tag made by a graffiti artist. I just don’t have the time or patience to deal with people who have far too much time and not enough sex. I have better things to do, bigger fish to fry, and it’s just not worth the trouble to deal with the parakeet poop of the net.
Over the next few days or weeks or whatever, in between life and work, I’ll be looking at my options for this site. In the meantime, I won’t be posting for a while (if at all, any more). I will leave comments open on this post for now in case anyone has anything to say, but I’ll be closing comments elsewhere as I go.
To the good citizens of the net, thank you for reading and commenting, especially in this journal’s peak of popularity a few years ago. I should have ended with a bang then instead of allowing this to fizzle and wither away, forced to an early blog retirement as I find myself too busy or too indifferent to continue.
Thanks.

I came across your site a few weeks ago, directed here while looking for ‘stereograms’. And you thought YOUR day was full. Since that time I have been drawn to read most every one of your pages.
It’s been refreshing to read such bright, witty and honest work. And, your spelling and grammar? ALMOST perfect! Yeah, I found a few mistakes. I think you have a serious gift for writing – hopefully you won’t let that die.
As I read your work I felt a kinship with you – not one of a sexual nature. Not right away. It seemed that I knew you somehow, or at least that we were on the same page with regard to many of your views.

I won’t say that I started to fall in love with you, but I think I started to fall in love with you. Yours was the first site I would go to when I would log on to my computer each morning. I scanned your posts, hoping to see the line: ‘last night, H.E. and I called it quits’. Not like that would make any difference for me, personally, but I guess it’s kind of like when Julia Roberts left Lyle Lovett. Suddenly, there was hope for other homely losers in the world. Not that Lyle’s a loser.
Sorry to see you go – your writing has touched me. All the best to you and that other guy.

Gosh, I’m so sorry Cuz. That sucks! While the blogworld will be losing a fabulous writer and artist, I, on the other hand, get to keep a wonderful cousin. It’s time when you know it’s time. Much success in your other projects! Love ya!

April,
Alien or not, It’s been a lovely barbecue. Alas, like any BBQ, I guess there’s a time to let [make] the guests go home.
Perhaps we will see you on the visiting side out there.
Cheers April!

Are you sure you can’t use a nice set of encyclopedias?
Just when i started to think of putting your RSS in the aggregator…
Oh, well, just read the whole blog… one of the best reading afternoon of my life 🙂
Best wishes!
Well, the main part of the problem is you’re using a VERY OLD version of WordPress. WordPress is now on version 1.5.2; you’re using version 1.2.2. This is also a huge security risk for your site, beyond even spam. Simply put, you can’t expect an old script to combat new tactics.
Upgrading WordPress is insanely easy, and everything you could possibly need help with can be found at http://codex.wordpress.org or from the helpful people over at http://wordpress.org/support.
Secondly, WordPress has a ton of plugins that can help you get rid of spam without having to delete much of it. With one plugin (Bad Behavior) in place, I usually get only one bit of spam a week, if even that much.
April,
Hey. I’m really sad to read this post announcing your retirement from the blog world. You were actually one of the first blogs I ever read. I really enjoy your drawings and I assume that you will still keep a presence on the net for your freelance work?
I guess this also means that time has run out on you posting any pictures of your famous hair! Too bad that us long time readers will never get to see any shots of it. And we’ll also never know if you decide to cut it.
Worse yet, I won’t be able to come to you for dating advice!
Wishing you all the best, maybe we can stay in touch via e-mail!

April, where to begin??? You have been one of my regular reads since my introduction to the blogiverse. Your graphics have adorned most of my websites, and you are just an all around wonderful person. I would be very sad to see this site go the way of the dodo bird, but I understand that life can get hectic to the point where something has to go.
Best of luck in all, and please stay in touch!
