In the Meantime…
Yes, this is another attempt to post more regularly, but if I fail yet again, please visit my cousin Zee. We’re blood related, so if you like my stuff, you’ll be sure to like hers. She’s as kooky as I am, if not more.
I meant to post the magazine illustrations last night but got caught up in a print cover layout involving a guy with a sword in a monastery. Sheesh! What a guy will do once he swears off women.
But I saw one of Zee’s old posts and realized I should respond. So here goes:
3 screen names that you have had: agem, aprilgem, aprildesign (to reveal only the most obvious ones)
3 things you like about yourself: the mojo I seem to have with my art, my voice, and my way with words—the eyes and smile don’t hurt either.
3 things you don’t like about yourself: the too dark tan, the endless self-doubt, and the way I always seem to forget that there are at least three things I like about myself.
3 parts of your heritage: Filipino, Spanish, and English/German (the last a result of some marriage to an American soldier)
3 things that scare you: a life with no H.E., absolutely no way to express my art, and spiders (though not really)
3 of your everyday essentials: my “eyes”, my purse, and my H.E.
3 things you are wearing right now: a polar bear swim event t-shirt from Korea, a pair of size 4 Gap stretch boot cut jeans, and a pair of size 7 very comfy slip-on shoes
3 of your favorite songs: “Our Love Is Here To Stay” by Gershwin (to sing), “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers (to get me up and dancing), “Maple Leaf Rag” by Scott Joplin (to play on the piano)
3 things I want in a relationship: love, laughter, and that feeling of “home”—all of which I have
2 truths and a lie: All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights. I always know what two truths and one lie I should put in these things. Right.
3 things you can’t do without: my hands, my head, and my H.E.
3 places you want to go on vacation: Europe, Australia, and the Caribbean
3 things you just can’t do: kiss my elbow, pee my name on the wall, and come up with a third thing that I just can’t do
3 kids’ names: Rachel, Kaitlyn, and Conner (my co-workers’ kids)
3 things you want to do before you die: publish as an author/illustrator of a children’s book, travel some more, and maybe get married and have kids
3 celebrity crushes: Brendan Fraser, Nicole Kidman, and Keith Olbermann/Jon Stewart
3 people you want to know these things about: Since I already know Zee’s answers … H.E., Minnie, and Janine

I’m excited to see that you’ve got two posts since I last checked. Hope everything is going well. Guess you still have all your hair? Any exciting summer plans? I’m going to NYC around Labor Day.
Size 4 jeans?!?? What the…? Obviously, my skinny little cousin, you weren’t cursed with the Martinez jeans/genes. Luh-keeee!
Drew, yep, I still have the hair, but the summer plans include a haircut after H.E. has gotten some shots of me with my hair down.
Zee, the Martinez genes? But I look more like my dad than like my mom. LOL, does this mean Pa was a black sheep?
Actually, come to think of it, he WAS the odd, skinny man out who took after HIS skinny Pa (Lolo). The rest of them were fatties. I mean curvy and voluptuous, like Lola.
Hope you get time to draw/post some new ‘toons. I love those.
Hope you decide only to get a trim and not a major haircutting. Pictures would be cool though. : )
Glad to have you back.
Eric
I’ll second the comments about not cutting your hair (or at least keeping it to a small trim). Hopefully nothing drastic is in store, hair as long as yours is a gift and restores some beauty to an often ugly world. Take a look at http://www.tlhs.org or http://forums.longhaircommunity.com
(sorry if posted twice, first one didn’t take for some reason)
Let me second the comments about your hair. Hopefully you’re not considering a major chop or anything. Hair as long as yours adds beauty to an otherwise often ugly world…
… oh and check out http://www.tlhs.org and forums.longhaircommunity.com for hepful tips and advice on keeping long hair beautiful.
The picture of the dog is cool! I’m glad to see you’re posting semi-regularly again. I’ve missed it. I always check and there’s been little new this summer. Hope things are clearing up for you.
As for your hair, I’m guessing you’ve got something more than a trim planned if/when the haircut happens. What do you have in mind?
I’m new to your site and have enjoyed exploring it some. What is the scoop on your hair though? Lots of interest in it but I don’t know why? Is it long I guess?
Yeah, the hair thing. Kind of a freaky obsession, eh?
Hells afire! What a fresh and industrious site! Do you ever come up for air? Keep goin anyway…I am onboard and learnin fast!.. my brother has been pestering me to do our site up…now I see what he’s on about! nice one. I’m off to a wedding now….bye!
