Auto-Focus, My Ass

Auto-Focus, My Ass

So it’s not the best of cameras. It was only meant to be a starter camera, the sort you get for a child when they’re first learning how to shoot. Still, you’d expect to get a decent picture with the autofocus and fine setting turned on, right? How hard could it be?

Very hard, it seems. This is only one of a handful of test shots I took before the batteries died on me, and if you look really closely, you might see the cat.

  1. April, enlighten me. What is the model and make of your camera? I might be able to offer some suggestions.

  2. I can’t speak for anyone else, but no matter what the camera type, it usually takes me several dozen photos before I begin feeling comfortable with the camera.

  3. Nikki’s right! I’m up to about 470 shots with my new camera and I’m still trying to get comfortable with it.
I’m curious as to what’s the make and model too.

  4. Four megapixels? Not too shabby!

I should add, that even when I’m very familiar with a camera, I’m only pleased with about one of every dozen or so digital shots that I take. But more if I’m using my film SLR. Because my SLR and I are one.

    I know… I’m still using film. Shh.

  5. Four megapixels is great if I can get it to take more than a handful of shots before the batteries die on me. I’ve been hunting up reviews on this thing, and apparently it doesn’t hold battery power very well.

But it does make me feel better that even you, whose photos I really like, get only one good shot out of a dozen. 🙂

Now if only my camera will let me take a dozen or two before dying!

  6. Looks a LOT better than my new camera :^(

Just kidding,. The hardest thing about digital cameras (I’ve found) is getting the subject (my dog) to sit still.

Oh, and unsharp mask will be your best friend in Photoshop or PSP.

  7. So, I take it that you are not going to put down the "Cantoff PS6 digital crapera". Either way, congratulations on the nice new toy

  8. LOL, Parl. The reviews on that Barbie camera are so pathetic that I can’t stop laughing. I feel ever so much better now, even though I already did sharpen the cat photo.

And Tony, there is no way I am abandoning my Cantoff PS6! 🙂

  9. April, do yourself a favor and buy some NiMH batteries (at least 1300 mh versions) and a charger. They will pay for themselves within a month and you’ll find that they will last a lot longer in your camera.
